DHAKA: As in the previous years, BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia has invited Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for iftar in advance.

A BNP delegation, led by the party’s international affairs secretary and also its spokesperson Dr Asaduzzaman Ripon, conveyed the invitation at ruling Awami League (AL) president’s political office in city’s Dhanmondi area Monday noon.

AL deputy-office secretary Mrinal Kanti Das received the invitation.

However, BNP has set to arrange an iftar or fast breaking meal for political leaders on June 21 during holy month of Ramajan at Bashundhara Convention Center in city.

BNP leader Ripon hoped that the upcoming iftar program will help create a friendly environment among the two major political parties.

AL leader Mrinal Kanti said that the premier and also AL president will return home on June 18 and then she will take decision after discussing about the matter with her party leaders.
