DHAKA: Jamaat-e-Islami has called a 24-hour hartal countrywide from 6:00am Wednesday as Supreme Court upheld death penalty to their leader Ali Ahsan Mojahid for war crimes.
A press release signed by party’s acting Ameer Mokbul Ahmed made the disclosure on Tuesday.
Earlier in the day, SC Appellate Division upheld the death sentence to him for his crimes against humanity during the War of Liberation of Bangladesh in 1971.
The four-member bench of the Appellate Division led by Chief Justice SK Sinha delivered the verdict around 9am.
