DHAKA: The appeal hearing of death row convict BNP leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury adjourned till Wednesday.
The hearing started on Tuesday at the four-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice SK Sinha.
The other members of the SC bench are Justice Nazmun Ara Sultana, Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain and Justice Hasan Foyez Siddique.
BNP standing committee member Khandaker Mahbub Hossain moved for SQ Chowdhury in the court while attorney general Mahbubey Alam stood for the state.
On October 1 of 2013, International Crime Tribunal (ICT)-1 handed down death sentence to the former BNP parliamentarian for his crimes against humanity during the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971.
He appealed to the Supreme Court on October 29 seeking acquittal of all charges.
The state, however, did not appeal as SQ Chowdhury was awarded capital punishment.
