DHAKA: Police, in special drives, arrested 41 Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Chhatra Shibir men from Gaibandha and Rangpur districts on Tuesday.

Gaibandha correspondent said 30 Jamaat-Shibir leaders and activists among 46 people were arrested in the drive in several areas of the district from Monday night to Tuesday morning.

They were also produced before the court at noon.

District additional superintendent of police Farukh Hossain confirmed the matter to banglanews.

The arrested are accused in several cases including sabotage cases, he added.

Rangpur staff correspondent said police conducted the drives and arrested 11 men of Jamaat-Shibir from Kawnia, Taraganj, Badarganj, Pirganj, Mithapukur, Pirgacha, Gongachara and Metropolitan areas of the districts.

Directive Branch of police in Rangpur District Shariful Islam confirmed the matter to banglanews.
