TANGAIL: Deprived leaders and activists of the district unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), a front organization of ruling Awami League (AL), on Wednesday called dawn-to-dusk hartal in the district for Thursday.

The BCL men hold a meeting at district AL office after a protest procession that circumambulated the town.

Tangail district Chhatra League old committee vice president Mostafizur Rahman Sohel, joint secretary Mirza Rana and Safiul Alam Mukul were present in the meeting.

Recently, the old committee was abolished and a new committee, led by president Istiaque Ahmed and general secretary Shamim Al Mamun, was announced.

However, a press release, signed by BCL central committee president HM Badiuzzaman Sohag and general secretary Siddiqui Nazmul Alam, was issued on Wednesday regarding the new committee.
