Deposition against Rizvi, 146 BNP men Aug 5

DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Wednesday deferred until August 5 the recording of the deposition in a vandalism case filed against 147 BNP leaders and activists, including its joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.

Judge Tareq Mainul Islam Bhuiyan of the Speedy Trial Court-6 passed the deferment order, as witness in the case did not appear before the court.

Some 45 accused, including former opposition chief whip Zainul Abedin Farooque, JAGPA president Shafiul Alam Prodhan, were present at the court during the hearing. The other accused are BNP joint secretary general Aman Ullah Aman, M Shahjahan, party chairperson’s adviser Dr AZM Jahid Hossain and advocate Abed Reza and others.

The case was filed against the leaders and activists of BNP and 20-party on charge of vandalising vehicles and creating panic among people in front of BNP’s central office at Nayapaltan on March 11, 2013.

On August 25, 2014, the court framed charge against 147 people in the case filed under speedy trial tribunal.
