JESSORE: Police arrested nearly 13,000 people in different accusations including creating violence in past six months in Jessore district.

A total of 12,991 persons were arrested in the district. Of them, 5,756 were accused in creating violence and 7,235 were wanted in several cases.

Jessore police super Anisur Rahman confirmed the matter to banglanews.

He said police have been working tirelessly to ensure security of people. As part of their mission, they have arrested nearly 13,000 people as they were accused in different cases.

On the other hand, the number of prisoners in Jessore Central Jail did not increase. Even then, the jail authority could not give information regarding prisoners in past six months.

Senior jail super Shahjahan Ali admitted the situation.

He told banglanews that police, as per procedure, produce the arrestees to court. Then most of them get bails on the first day while some other get bails after a few days.

So, number of the prisoners remains in the capacity of the prison, he added.
