DHAKA: Minister without portfolio and also ruling Awami League general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam joined a discussion and iftar program organized by the party’s youth wing Jubo League (JL) at its central office in city on Thursday evening.

However, Syed Ashraf was removed from local government rural development and cooperatives ministry earlier in the day.

Pointing to BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, the AL leader said she (Khaleda) is telling lies in the month of Ramadan to make obstacles to the democratic process.

‘If democracy is hampered, it will not bring the environment of fair politics in future’, he added.

But the minister did not comment on his removal from the LGRD ministership.

JL chairman Mohammad Omar Faruk Chowdhury presided over the discussion, also addressed by JL general secretary Mohammad Harun-ur-Rashid.
