Injured AL leader dies in Ctg

CHITTAGONG: An Awami League (AL) leader succumbed to his injuries at a private hospital in Chittagong district Wednesday night.

The deceased was identified as Abdur Rahim, 45, president of AL Nangalmora union of Hathazari upazila.

Hathazari Thana officer-in-charge (OC) M Ismail told banglanews that on July 10, some miscreants attacked on Rahim in the area when he was returning from an iftar mahfil around 8:00pm.

Locals rushed him to Chittagong Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) and later transferred to a private hospital.

A case has been filed in this connection and the law enforcers have been investigating the matter, the OC added.

Party sources said Rahim was also a former president of Hathazari upazila unit of ruling AL’s student wing Bangladesh Chattra League (BCL).
