DHAKA: Publications and Publicity Secretary of ruling Awami League (AL) Dr Hasan Mahmud on Friday requested BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia not to cut cakes for her “false” birthday on August 15, the national mourning day.

He came up with the request while addressing a discussion meeting, organized by Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote, at Shilpakala Academy in city in the morning.

The AL leader also expected Khaleda Zia would seek apology to the countrymen for her disgraceful act.

He also said they expected the BNP chief would congratulate the nation as well as the incumbent government for achieving the status of lower middle income country.

KMR Manju presided over the meeting. Former state minister for home Shamsul Haque Tuku and acting general secretary of Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote Arun Sarker Rana, among others, also addressed the meeting.
