DHAKA: Court on Tuesday granted a three-day remand for eight members of Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) including its acting ameer Fahim.

Earlier, Detective Branch (DB) of police inspector Sarwar Hossain produced the arrestees to Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court and pleaded for a 10-day remand.

After hearing magistrate Atikur Rahman granted 3-day remand for each.

However, DB police detained eight members of outlaw militant outfit Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh including its acting ameer Abu Talha Mohammad Fahim from city’s Uttara area on early Tuesday.

Police said Fahim was operating the organization in absence of JBM ameer and also his father Maulana Saidur Rahman, who is now in jail.

According to police, the other detainees, Shafuqil Islam, Ruhul Amin, Imdadul Haque, Rafiq Ahammed alias Royel, Mohammad Mustafa, Shakhawat Ullah and Ali Ashraf Rajib, are JMB leaders operating in different areas.
