DHAKA: Home Minister Advocate Sahara Kahtun urged the Chhatra League to build up public opinion in support of the trial of the war criminals, as she said opponents are active to foil it.

"BNP and Jamaat are cooking up conspiracy against the trial of war criminals, but Chhatra League has to work for building public opinion to prevent the conspiracy," said the Awami League leader.   

She made the call at a discussion meeting commemorating the National Mourning Day organized by Dhaka City Chhatra League (North) at Dhanmondi in the city.    

“The verdict of assassination of Bangabandhu was executed as per our election manifesto. Now we will complete the trial of war crimes as well,” the home minister told the student activists of the ruling party.

She said, "The government is trying to bring back the six fugitive killers of Bangabandhu from different countries and execute the verdict of the court.”

The minister also asked the Chhatra Leaguers to screen out the infiltrating Islami Chhatra Shibir men from the BCL and take action against them.

She asked the BCL activists to acquire knowledge properly to lead the nation in future as well as to implement the ‘vision 2021’ by discarding all disputes in the party.

Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Tapash MP and Organizing Secretary of AL and Sate Minister for LGRD Jahangir Kabir Nanok were among others present at the meeting.
