BARISAL: District court on Sunday sent BNP’s 16 leaders and activists to jail after rejecting their bail pleas.

Barisal Metropolitan Court magistrate Begum Nusrat Jahan passed the order when the BNP men appeared before the court in person and plead for bail.

The BNP men were accused in creating violence in Barisal during the nationwide blockade and hartal demanding the cancellation of 10th national polls, held on January 5 in 2014 and demanding a fresh poll under caretaker government.
