DHAKA: A three-member BNP delegation reached the Election Commission (EC) secretariat in city on Saturday afternoon to discuss about upcoming municipal elections.
BNP publicity secretary Imran Saleh Prince, assistant office secretary Asadul Karim Shaheen and party leader Aminul Islam will meet EC secretary Sirajul Islam.
During the meet, they will place their demands, including a 15-day deferment of the elections.
Earlier on Friday, BNP spokesperson Dr Asaduzzaman Ripon said BNP-led 20-party will join the upcoming municipal election if voting date is deferred for 15 days.
According to the schedule declared by the EC, polls will be held in 234 municipalities across the country on December 30.
However, the EC set December 3 as last date for submission of nomination forms, while December 5 and 6 for scrutinizing the forms and December 13 as last date for withdrawal of nominations.
Voters will cast the ballots at 3,582 polling centers across the country to elect 234 mayors, 2,952 councilors and 738 councilors (reserved).
