DHAKA: BNP Chairperson and journalist union BFUJ leader Shawkat Mahmud has been sent on 3-day remand in two cases under Anti-Terrorism and Explosives Acts.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahriar Mahmud Adnan passed the order after hearing on Wednesday when police produced him before the court with 10-day remand plea.

On Tuesday, plain-clothed police arrested Shawkat Mahmud from Panthapath area of the capital after foiling a press conference of pro-BNP professionals’ electoral platform Adarsha Dhaka Andolon.
