Mujahid remanded over stabbing Olama League chief

DHAKA: A Dhaka court Saturday placed Mujahid, the suspected attacker of Olama League president, on a four-day remand.

Metropolitan magistrate M Tasruzzaman passed the order in reply to a 10-day remand plea filed by police.

Earlier in the day inspector of Detective Branch (DB) of police Alam Mia produced Mujahid before the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court.

Bangladesh Awami Olama League (BAOL) president (central committee) Allahama Elias Hossain Bin Halali was stabbed at south gate of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in city after Jumu’ah prayers.

He was going to attend a rally organized at Bangabandhu Avenue to mark the 11th anniversary of the deadly 21 August grenade attack on the then opposition Awami League rally in city.

He was now undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).

Police held one suspected attacker from the spot and handed over to DB police.
