LAXMIPUR: At least 10 people, including police and journalist, were injured in infighting between two factions of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) at Lakshmipur Government College on Saturday over establishing supremacy.
Sources said an altercation between BCL college unit president Mosharraf Hossain and municipality committee general secretary Morshed Alam Nisat at noon triggered the clash.
The clash left BCL leaders Ashik Rabbani, Hridoy Saha, Morshed Alam Nishad, Sajjadur Rahman, Shamim Khan Tutul and Sourav, among others injured.
Divisional Special Branch (DSB) member Jalal Uddin and journalist Altaf Hossain also sustained injuries.
The injured were taken to Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital and local clinics.
Confirming the matter, Lakshmipur Detective Branch (DB) of Police sub-inspector (SI) Abul Bashar said the situation was under control then.
Police also remain in alert position in the area, he added.
