DHAKA: The hearing on the fate of Abdul Latif Siddique as parliamentarian is scheduled to be held at the Election Commission (EC) on Sunday.

General Secretary of Ruling Awami League (AL), Syed Ashraful Islam, also public administration minister, is expected to attend the hearing at 11:00am.

Competent sources from the EC confirmed the matter to banglanews.

On July 13, Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury issued a letter, adding the letter by AL general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam to take action, to CEC asking him to take decision about the MP post of Latif Siddique.

The CEC, then, asked Latif Siddique and Syed Ashraful Islam to highlight their stand within August 2.

Election Commissioner Shah Newaz said both the parties should get chances of highlighting their stand before taking any decision.

Both the parties can be present in person or through their lawyers, he added.
