DHAKA: Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) on Monday cancelled the verdict by High Court (HC) that released former BNP lawmaker Hafiz Ibrahim from 13 years’ jail in a case over accumulating illegal wealth.
A four-member bench, led by Chief Justice (CJ) Surendra Kumar Sinha, came up with the order at noon.
The Appellate Division also ordered the HC bench comprising Justice Ruhul Quddus and Justice Bhisma Dev Chakravarty to rehearing the case within three months.
Former parliamentarian Hafiz Ibrahim is also the elder brother of Gias Uddin Al Mamun.
