SUST: Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) authorities suspended four activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) for their reported assault on the teachers during a demo demanding resignation of varsity’s Vice Chancellor.
 
The decision was made by SUST administration following the suggestion of its Proctorial body on Tuesday noon.

The suspended students are-- Dhani Ram Roy of Statistics Department, Abdullah Al Masum of Political Studies Department and Ariful Islam Arif and Zahid Hossain Nayem of Forestry and Environmental Science Department of the university.

SUST vice-chancellor Professor Aminul Islam Bhuiyan confirmed the matter to banglanews.

He said the university administration has made the decision following the advice of the investigation committee.

More measures will be taken later against the assaulters, he added.

Earlier on August 31, BCL central committee suspended three of its SUST unit leaders for the assault incident.

On August 30, a group of BCL men attacked the teachers, who were in a protest movement demanding the stepping down of their VC.
