DHAKA: The Appellate Division has upheld the High Court (HC) order that granted bail to BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi in two violence cases.
A three-member Appellate Division bench led by Justice Nazmun Ara Sultana rejected the appeal by the state on Thursday.
However, police filed the two cases with Motijheel Thana on January 12 and 22 against the BNP leader for creating violence and vandalism.
Following the HC’s order of Rizvi’s bail in August, the state appealed to the SC against it.
Rizvi’s lawyer Sagir Hossain Leon said that though the BNP leader has got bail, he is not getting release from jail as the SC has stayed his bail in two more cases.
Besides, two more bail petitions are under trial, he added.
