RAJSHAHI: Police arrested eight leaders and activists of BNP and its student front Chhatra Dal and youth wing Jubo Dal in different violence cases in Paba upazila of Rajshahi district.

The arrestees included district unit BNP vice-president and also Rajshahi Bar Association former general secretary Advocate Mainul Hasan Panna, unit joint general secretary Alauddin Ahmed and member Manjure Sadat Babu and district unit Chhatra Dal president Shafiqul Alam and district unit Jubo Dal joint convener Sultan Ahammed Rashu.

They were arrested from a secret meeting held on Friday night.

Paba Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Alamgir Hossain confirmed the matter to banglanews.

He said that they will seek seven-day remand for each after producing the arrestees before the court.
