PIROJPUR: Police detained six thana unit presidents of Islami Chhatra Shibir, student front of Jamaat-e-Islami from Pirojpur district on Saturday afternoon.

The detainees were identified as Sajib Hossain Zahid (22), son of late Abdul Khaleque; Naqib Nasrullah (19); Ismail Mollah (23), son of Yasin Mollah; Shamim Hasan (26), son of Abdul Mannan; Abdullah Al Masud (18), son of Tipu Sultan and Raqibul Rasan (22), son of ANM Shahidul Isalm of different upazilas of the district.

Police said they conducted a drive following a tip-off and nabbed the Shibir men.

A good number of books and leaflets were also seized during the drive.

Pirojpur Sadar Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Enayet Hossain told banglanews that the detainees were conducting a secrete meeting when they were detained.

District unit Shibir president said that the party’s local unit leaders were in a meeting on upcoming Eid-ul-Azha festival.
