Khaleda Zia shocked at hajj stampede death

DHAKA: BNP chairperson and also former prime minister Khaleda Zia expressed her profound shock at the death of pilgrims in stampede in Mina near Makkah.

A statement signed by the party spokesperson Dr Asaduzzaman Ripon said on Thursday.

She also prayed for the salvation of the departed souls and immediate recovery of the injured.

However, at least 453 people have been killed and over 719 injured in the stampede, which took place in Mina, on the outskirts of the holy city of Makkah, at the annual Hajj pilgrimage.
