PABNA: A district court on Tuesday placed four members of Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) on five-day remand each in a case filed over the attempt to murder of a Baptist Mission pastor Luke Sarker in Ishwardi Upazila.
Additional chief judicial magistrate of Pabna Rezaul Karim passed the order after the officer-in-charge of Ishwardi Police Station, Biman Kumar Das, produced the four with a 10-day remand plea to each.
The remanded are Ziaur Rahman, 35, son of one Abdur Rahim Sheikh, from Pabna Sadar upazila; Shariful Islam alias Tulip, 22, son of one Mansur Ali, from Majidpur; Abdul Alim, from Niamatullahpur of the upazila; and Amjad Hossain, 30, from Raghabbaria village under Ullapara Upazila of Sirajganj district.
Earlier in the afternoon on Monday, another JMB member Raqibul Hasan Rabbi gave his confession to the court.
On October 5, a Christian priest Luke Sarker survived an attempt on his life by three assailants who tried to slaughter him in his house in Ishwardi of Pabna.
