DHAKA: Death row convict BNP standing committee member Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury has submitted a review petition of his verdict over crimes against humanity during the country’s war of independence in 1971.

Confirming the matter to banglanes, the convict’s lawyer Hujjatul Islam Al Fesani said that the petition was submitted to the Appellate Division on Wednesday.

In the 108-page review petition, the defense lawyer has sought acquittal of his client from charges by placing 10 grounds.

Lawyer and also BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s one of the advisors Khandakar Mahbub Hossain will lead the team to defend the convict.

The lawyer will also lead the team in hearing the review petition of another death row convict and one of the top war criminals Jamaat secretary general Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid.

Mujahid’s review petition was submitted to the Appellate Division Wednesday morning.
