BAGERHAT: Miscreants chopped a local Awami League leader to death at Rampal Upazila of the district Monday night.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Majed Sardar, 62, legal affairs secretary of Rajnagar union of the upazila.

Rampal Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Rafiqul Islam told banglanews miscreants chopped Abdul Majed Sardar and decapitated while he was going to check his shrimp farm to Kalikaprasad village, adjacent to Rajnagar, around 8:45pm.

Police sent the body to a local hospital for autopsy, he added.
