CHITTAGONG: BNP vice-chairman Abdullah Al Noman alleged that their party leader Sadeque Hossain Khoka was sentenced in a false case to create leadership vacuum in BNP.
He came up with the assertions in a statement sent to media on Wednesday.
Slamming the government Noman said former mayor of Dhaka, Khoka, was punished in a false case unilaterally when he has been staying in a foreign country for medical treatment taking permission from higher court.
The BNP leader, in the statement, also expected that High Court would release Khoka from the charges.
Earlier on Tuesday, Judge Abu Ahmed Jamadar of Special Judge Court-3 of Dhaka awarded Sadeque Hossain Khoka 13-year jail term in a case, over accumulation of illegal wealth, filed by Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) with Ramna Thana in city on April 2, 2008.
