DHAKA: International Crime Tribunal (ICT) farmed charges against eight war crimes suspects of Jamalpur district on seven counts of crimes against humanity committed during the country’s war of independence.
The three-member tribunal led by its chairman Justice Anwarul Haque passed the indictment order on Monday.
Five charges including genocide, killing, abduction, confinement, torture and loot have been brought against the eight accused.
The ICT also set November 18 as the date for placing opening statement and recording deposition.
The eight accused are - Mohammad Ashraf Hossain, Sharif Hossain, Abdul Mannan, Abdul Bari, Mohammad Harun, Abul Hashem, Shamsul Haque and SM Eusuf Ali.
On April 19, the prosecution pressed formal charges against eight Jamalpur “Al-Badr” men for their alleged involvement in crimes against humanity committed during the war.
