PIROJPUR: Police detained 12 leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami conducting drives in different parts of Pirojpur district on early Monday.

The detainees include Jamaat’s Bhandaria Thana unit ameer Abdul Gani and Kawkhali Thana unit secretary Nazrul Islam.

Bhandaria Thana sources said that police detained Abdul Gani from Dakkhin Shiyalkathi village of Bhandaria at 2:30am.

Moreover, Kawkhali Thana police nabbed Nazrul Islam and another Jamaat leader Anwar Gazi from their respective houses at the same time.

Pirojpur police super (SP) Mohammad Walid Hossain told banglanews that police detained 12 leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami.
