11 JMB men placed on 2-day remand

DHAKA: A city court has granted a two-day remand for 11 members of outlaw militant outfit Jamaat-ul-Mujaheedin (JMB).

Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court additional magistrate Alamgir Kabir granted the remand around 3:00pm on Tuesday.

Earlier at noon, Detective Branch (DB) of police inspector and also investigation officer of the case Abdur Razzak plead for 10-day remand for the arrestee after producing them before the court.

However, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (North), in overnight drives, detained 11 alleged members of the banned extremist outfit from several areas of Abdullahpur in city.

The drives were conducted from Monday night to Tuesday morning.

DMP deputy commissioner (media) Muntasirul Islam told banglanews that police seized books containing extremist ideas, explosives and locally made weapons from the detainees’ possession.
