DHAKA: police, in overnight drives, detained 34 leaders and activists of local units of Jamaat-e-Islami and its students wing Islami Chhatra Shibir from Satkhira and Jhenaidah districts on Tuesday.

Of the detained, 18 were from various areas in Satkhira and 16 from Jhenaidah districts.

Sub-inspector of Satkhira district special branch (SB) of police Enamul Haaque confirmed the matter.

On the other hand, additional superintendent of Jhenaidah police Ajbahar Ali Sheikh told banglanews that they will send the detainees to court at noon after quizzing.
