DHAKA: The dawn-to-dusk countrywide hartal, enforced by Jamaat-e-Islami protesting the execution of its leader Ali Ahsan Mujahid, is underway in a relaxed manner.

The shutdown started at 6:00am Monday. No picketing and procession in support of hartal has been reported in Dhaka, elsewhere of the country.

On the other hand, members of law enforcement agencies have remained on alert position across the country, including the city to tackle sabotages during hartal.

On Sunday, Jamaat-e-Islami has called a daylong countrywide hartal as a part of the post-execution protest program of its secretary general and also war criminal Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid.

Jamaat central sura member and also Faridpur unit Jamaat ameer Professor Abdut Tawab told banglanews on Saturday night.

‘We have already informed our district leaders and activists regarding the party’s protest program,’ he added.
