DHAKA: A total of 137 people, including 33 leaders-activists of BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami, from different places of five districts in the country apprehending sabotages.
The drives have been conducted between Sunday night and Monday dawn.
Banglanews Jhenaidhah correspondent reports: Joint forces detained 21 33 leaders-activists of Jamaat-e-Islami from six upazilas of the district.
Of them, 11 were picked up from Sadar upazila, two each from Kaliganj, Harinakunda and Moheshpur, three from Shailkupa and one from Kotchandpur.
Jhenaidah additional police super Ajbahar Ali Shiekh told banglanews that the detainees would be sent of court on Monday noon after primary interrogation.
In Satkhira, joint forces arrested 29 people, including 12 activists of Jamaat-e-Islami, from eight thanas of the district for their alleged links with sabotages.
Alongside the Jamaat activists, rests were accused in regular cases, said Satkhira district police special branch sub-inspector (SO) Enamul Haque.
Banglanews Meherpur correspondent reports: As part of regular drive, several teams of police have arrested 12wanted accused from Sadar, Gangni and Mujibnagar thanas of Meherpur.
Process is upderway to send the arrestees to court, Meherpur additional police super Ahmar Uzzaman told banglanews.
In Joypurhat, police arrested 19 accused, including an activist of BNP from different thanas of the district in several sabotage cases.
Arrested BNP activist is identified as Motibul Islam, son of Makbul Hossain of Panchbibi upazila.
Joypurhat police control room on duty constable M Hanif Hossain told banglanews that arrestees would be produced before court on Monday.
In Chittagong, police detained 55 people, including an activist of Jamaat-e-Islami, from different upazilas of the district.
During the drives, 660 pieces of yaba tablets and 31 litres locally made liquor were recovered from Chandanish and Satkania upazilas.
Chittaong additional police super (special branch) Mohammad Naimul Hasan informed banglanews about the development.
