DHAKA: Awami League (AL) joint general secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif said Jamaat-e-Islami would be banned soon for its involvement in war crimes in 1971.
He came up with the assertion while talking to reporters after placing wreath at Martyred Intellectuals Memorial on Martyred Intellectuals Day on Monday.
Hanif was accompanied by leaders-activists of Awami League.
He said the Day has a special significance among the nation for this year. Ali Ahsan Mujahid, one of the masterminds of the intellectuals' killings, has already been executed.
‘The nation advanced one step towards on way to erase black spot through this’, Hanif said.
All war criminals will be brought under trial with the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the senior AL leader added.
