DHAKA: BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia urged people for national unity being inspired with the spirit of country’s Victory Day to save its sovereignty and democracy.

She also alleged that Bangladesh citizens have no freedom and the current situation is in a grave anarchy.

The BNP chief made this assertion in her message, signed by the party’s joint secretary general Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, on the eve of Victory Day that falls on December 16.

She also alleged that the incumbent government ignored public opinion by arranging a ‘farcical and exparte national election’ on January 5 in 2014.

According to her, the ruling party arranged the election to uproot democracy and they want bloodshed to implement their blueprint.

Moreover, Khaleda Zia conveyed her wishes to all Bangladeshis home and abroad on the occasion of the day and prayed for continuous happiness and welfare for all.

She also paid tribute to the martyrs, who made supreme sacrifice for the nation and prayed for their eternal peace.

“I am also showing my respect to the mothers and sisters who were violated for the sake of the country”, she added.
