NOAKHALI: A mayor runner, also ruling Awami League leader, from Hatia Municipality in the upcoming municipal polls was hacked by miscreants at Char Kailash area of the district Wednesday night.

The injured was identified as AKM Yusuf Ali, Jubo League leader from Ward No. 3 of Hatia Municipality.

Firoz Uddin, a councilor candidate from Ward No. 3 of Hatia Municipality, told banglanews that miscreants attacked Belal and chopped indiscriminately in front of Tahera Government Primary School around 8:30pm while he was returning after seeking votes from the voters.

Later, the villagers rescued him and rushed to Upazila Health Complex.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Hatia Thana Nurul Huda confirmed the matter to banglanews.
