JOYPURHAT: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained two top leaders of Joypurhat district unit Islami Chhatra Shibir, the student front of Jamaat-e-Islami, with two foreign made revolvers, 21 cocktails and six locally made bombs.
The detainees are Abujar Gifari, 28, president of district unit Shibir, from Tulat village of Sadar upazila of the district and its secretary Omar Ali, 22, hailed from Teghar Bisha village of the upazila.
RAB-5 Joypurhat camp members picked up them from Kadamtoli area of Panchbibi upazila of the district early Thursday.
Joypurhat RAB-5 camp commander Al-Mamun Shikdar said the duo took position in Kadamtali area with arms, cocktails and bombs for conducting sabotage.
In primary interrogation, they admitted their involvement in sabotage plan, he added.
A case is set to file with Panchbibi Thana in this connection.
Police sources said the two Shibir leaders were accused of several cases filed with Joupurhat, Panchbibi and Khetlal Thanas.
