DHAKA: Ruling Awami League (AL) claimed that the ongoing municipal election was peaceful amid some sporadic incidents.
‘BNP was worried as they were heading to defeat,’ he added.
AL joint general secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif came up with the claim at a press conference at AL president’s political office in city’s Dhanmondi area on Wednesday.
Regarding the cocktail attack on journalist, the AL leader opined that it was well-planned.
‘BNP conducted the attack to make the municipal election and Election Commission (EC) controversial.’
According to Hanif, BNP has been trying to confuse people since the announcement of the election.
He further said that people from all walks of life cast their votes and the voting was held peacefully.
