MANIKGANJ: Voting in nine wards of Singair municipality in the district is underway at 10 polling centers from 8:00am and will continue till 4:00pm on Thursday.

Six candidates have been vying for mayoral post while 34 for councilors’ posts and seven women candidates.

Additional law enforcers have been deployed in the polls area to thwart any untoward situation.

The poll in Singair municipality was shifted to January 7 due to a writ petition filed with the High Court over inconsistencies in voter list and complexities over demarcating boundary.
