MANIKGANJ: Voting in nine wards of Singair municipality in Manikganj district has come to an end on Thursday afternoon (January 7).

Election officials have started counting the ballots after voting ended at 10 voting centers.

People cast their votes from 8:00am to 4:00pm amid tight security.

Six candidates are vying for mayoral post while 34 for councilors and seven women for female councilor posts.

Additional law enforcers have been deployed in the polls area to thwart any untoward situation.

The poll in Singair municipality was shifted to January 7 due to a writ petition filed with the High Court over inconsistencies in voter list and complexities over demarcating boundary.
