HABIGANJ: Police detained 14 top leaders of district unit Jamaat-e-Islami, including its ameer Mokhlesur Rahman, from Habiganj Sadar on Friday morning.

Habiganj assistant police super (sadar) Masudur Rahman Monir told banglanews that the detainees were holding a clandestine meeting at the house of district Jamaat ameer at East Bhadoi village in the sadar upazila.

During the drive, the law enforcers detained the 14 leaders and recovered huge leaflets and Tk 1-lakh from their procession around 9:30am.

Among the detainees, there were ameers of upazila units Jamaat-e-Islami, he added.
