Fakhrul presses govt for talks

DHAKA: BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir once again pressed the government to talk about the process of establishing an elected government.

He made this call at a program celebrating 37th founding anniversary of ‘Jubo JAGPA’ at Photojournalist Association auditorium in city on Saturday morning (January 16).

The BNP leader opined that if democracy is not restored then the upcoming situation will also affect the ruling party.

‘There is no legality of the incumbent government. Like an autocrat, the ruling party has been imposed on the nation.’

He further said, ‘We declared independence for establishing democracy and economic emancipation. But the government has snatched people’s right of voting and also destroyed country’s economy’.

JAGPA president chaired the program, attended by its leaders and activists.
