DHAKA: The stalemate of ruling Awami League (AL)’s Dhaka city committee might get unknotted before the national convention of the party.
Sources concerned said that Dhaka Mahanagar AL committee would be declared before its national convention scheduled for March 28.
This time, the city AL will get two committees for its north and south units.
After talking to several leaders from policy-making level of the party, it is known that not only Dhaka Mahanagar but also all districts and other units will get new committee.
AL joint general secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif confirmed the information to banglanews.
He said, “All committees, including Dhaka Mahanagar committee, will be formed in February before the national council that scheduled for March”.
The existing committee of Dhaka Mahanagar has been holding their posts for last 12 years. Preparations for making a new committee for Dhaka Mahanagar unit AL has been hanging for last three-year.
However, presently the committee is running without president. After the death of acting president MA Aziz, there was no declaration of a new acting president.
A source concerned from AL informed the media that as the new committee would be declared soon, there is no chance of declaring any new acting president at the moment.
Dhaka Mahanagar AL vice-president Mukul Chowdhury also hoped that the national convention is coming forth. The city committee would be declared before the convention.
