DHAKA: BNP has chalked out a two-day program to mark the Amar Ekushey National Mourning Day and International Mother Language Day that falls on February 21.
Acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced this at a press conference after the party’s joint meeting at BNP headquarters in city’s Nayapaltan area on Wednesday (February 17).
The program includes – BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s tribute to the language martyrs by placing floral wreaths at the Central Shaheed Minar on the wee hour of February 21.
BNP central leaders, led by Mirza Fakhrul, will place floral wreaths to the martyrs in Azimpur graveyard at 6:00am on the day.
After that, they will march toward the Shaheed Minar to pay their tribute to the martyrs.
In addition, black flag will be hoisted and party flag will be flown half-mast at all of BNP offices, including its central office from 6:00am on the day.
Besides, the party will arrange a discussion meeting at Engineers’ Institute of Bangladesh in the capital marking the Amar Ekushey.
However, Mirza Fakhrul chaired the joint meeting where BNP central leaders were present.
