DHAKA: Ruling Awami League (AL)-led 14-party alliance has called off their countrywide human chain program scheduled for February 24.

The program has been cancelled due to upcoming Union Parishad (UP) elections.

A press release, signed by AL deputy office secretary Mrinal Kanti Das, informed the media on Monday (February 22).

However, the human chain program was announced as a protest of Pakistan’s defamatory remarks on Bangladesh war of independence and trial of war criminals in the country.

Earlier, the alliance leader made the announcement of countrywide protest program from a human chain formed on February 15.
