4 JMB men arrested in city

DHAKA: Law enforcers have arrested four members of outlaw militant outfit Jamaat-ul-Mujaheedin Bangladesh (JMB) by conducting drives in city’s Hatirjheel area.

Members of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) counter terrorism and transnational crime unit also seized a laptop, six cell phone hand sets and several jihadist books.

DMP media center informed the media on Tuesday afternoon (February 23).

The arrestees included Hafez Zafar Ahammad, Rusel Ahammed Rinku, Abdullah Al Manju alias Jahangir and Mohammad Rusel Uddin.

A press release sent from the DMP media centre said that the law enforcers conducted overnight drives on February 22 and arrested the JMB men on early Tuesday.

‘After primary interrogation, the arrestees confessed that they are active members of JMB. They kept contact with other members through Facebook, collected money and conducted militant activities.’

According to the law enforcer, the JMB men gathered at Hatirjheel to plan any subversive attack in city.
