HABIGANJ: A district court ordered to confiscate the property of Haris Chowdhury, political advisor of former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, among 10 accused on former finance minister Shah AMS Kibria murder and explosives cases.
District and Session Judge Mohammad Atab Ullah passed the order on Monday (February 29) and fixed March 31 for next hearing.
However, 11 accused among 14, who are in jail, and other eight persons on bail, were produced before the court.
Three other accused including Sylhet mayor (suspended) Ariful Haque Chowdhury Arif and Habiganj municipality mayor GK Gaus, kept in jail, were not produced.
Public prosecutor Sirajul Haque Chowdhury, who moved for plaintiff, confirmed the matter to banglanews.
Advocates Abdul High, Manjur Uddin Shahin and Saleh Ahmed Chowdhury backed the accused.
Earlier, investigative officer of the cases and also CID senior ASP Meherunnesa Parul submitted chargesheet against 35 people and later on January 5, the court indicted 32.
On January 27 in 2005, AMS Kibria and four others were killed by a grenade attack while they were returning from Boidyanath Bazar area of sadar upazila joining a rally. More than 50 people were injured.
Ruling Awami League (AL) general secretary and also Habiganj-2 constituency MP advocate Abdul Majid Khan filed two separate cases.
