SIRAJGANJ: Miscreants hacked a local leader of ruling Awami League (AL) to death in Shahjadpur upazila of Sirajganj following internal feud over nomination for UP polls on Monday night.

The deceased was identified as Korban Ali, 42, general secretary of kayempur Union AL, son of Abdul ziz of Soratoil village of Shahjadpur upazila.

On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body from Sarappur Shayestabad School around 11:00pm.

Shahjadpur thana officer-in-charge (OC) Rezaul Haque told banglanews that miscreants attacked and hacked Korban while he was returning home from from Kashinathpur bazaar around 9:30pm, leaving him dead on the spot.

The body has been kept at thana compound and will be sent to Sadar Hospital for autopsy on Tuesday, the OC added.
