DHAKA: BNP standing committee member Dr Abdul Moin Khan commented that the Election Commission (EC) is still in the claws of the government.
‘Government controls the election through administration. Constitutionally it is EC’s duty to arrange polls, but, in reality, it is still in government’s hands.’
The BNP leader made this comment to the media after his one-hour meeting with chief election commissioner (CEC) Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmed on Wednesday afternoon (March 2).
According to Dr Moin, the government is plotting to snatch victory in the upcoming Union Parishad elections as did in the recently held municipality polls.
‘If the situation continues, it will also hamper the ruling party,’ he added.
